Latest Update

Phil got the green light to start chemotherapy again this Monday, March 28th.  This will be part 2B (of a probable 5-6 cycles).  He will receive methotrexate and Neulasta (prescribed to reduce the risk of infection and increase the WBC count).  The methotrexate can take a while to clear out of his system so he will be starting first thing in the morning and staying through at least Thursday and possibly the weekend.
On a separate note, Phil's father Jim Conrad, passed away on Friday March 18th, 2011.  Phil was able to fly to Stone Harbor, NJ the morning Jim died and spent the following days in fellowship with his brothers Jamie and David, honorary 4th Conrad brother Jefferson Breland and his mother Margaret sorting out the family affairs.  Without these 3 weeks off to rest and let his sinuses recover there is no way he'd have been able to make that trip.  Once again, our gracious God has shown His genius, perfect timing and provision in all things.

  1. Dear Phil and Family, It seems that there is never a good time to say goodbye, especially when enduring the challenges that seem to await you at every turn. I was deeply saddened to hear of the passing of your father. He was quite the individual wasn't he "Phop"? My father passed away 10 years ago and I am sorry to say that it hasn't gotten any easier, especially when you lose your hero. The best we can do , especially now that we are officially the "adults" is to try to become as good if not better at the elevated status that our parents have achieved....in other words, great parents. When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something new. I am so glad that you have had the support and comfort of those who mean the most to you all during this most difficult time. It is wonderful that Tim , Jeff, Brad and the gang are so supportive of all of your herculian efforts this past year. God Speed and know that you are, as always , in the daily thoughts and prayers of the DiBernardo Family as you enter this newest phase of your lives. Sincerely, Christine DiBernardo Tappe
